Topics include polar coordinates
in Euclidean 3-space, general matrix
algebra, determinants, vector space concepts for Euclidean n-space (e.g.,
linear dependence and independence, basis, dimension, linear
transformations, etc.), an introduction to eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
The text will be Anton and Rorres,
Elementary Linear Algebra, Applications
Version (latest edition).
The final grade will be based on assignments, term tests and a
final exam.
Note (from the Undergraduate Office):
MATH 1540 3.0 may not be taken for credit by anyone
taking, or anyone who has taken, MATH 1025.
Prerequisite:AS/SC/MATH 1525 3.0 or OAC Algebra and Geometry.
