Topics
include measurement of interest, annuities, amortization of loans,
bonds, sinking funds and depreciation. The course is at a level which will
prepare students for the interest theory portion of the Society of Actuaries
examinations.
This is a required course for students in the Actuarial
Stream, Mathematics for Commerce Honours Programme.
The text in 1998/99 was S. G. Kellison, The Theory of Interest
(Irwin Dorsey). It will most likely be the text for 1999/2000, but
students should check with the instructor of the course.
Prerequisite:AS/SC/MATH 1010 3.0 or AS/SC/MATH 1014 3.0 or
AS/SC/AK/MATH 1310 3.0.
Exclusions:AS/AK/MATH 2580 6.0, AS/MATH 2581 3.0.
