Title: " Oriented Distance Functions and Boundary Estimation "
I will discuss a new definition of the expectation of a random set, and
its properties. The idea is that this definition will work well for the
problem of boundary estimation. Key in this definition is the oriented
distance function, a popular tool in shape analysis.
I will also discuss the statistical properties of the expectation, including
consistency and limit theorems which can be used to create confidence intervals.
