Undergraduate Program Graduate Program


The Statistics Section, in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, was formed in 1990 and at present consists of 17 faculty members.

  • The research interests of the section members are in rather broad fields, including theoretical probability, applied probability, statistics and applied statistics. The section holds a weekly seminar series, currently coordinated by Prof Wei Liu. Please contact Prof Liu by email: liuwei@mathstat.yorku.ca, if you are interested in giving a Statistics seminar at York.


  • The Section offers both graduate programs and undergraduate programs in Statistics. To see more details, visit the websites of Undergraduate Program and Graduate Program. There are two computer labs, Gauss Lab and Grad/Faculty Lab available for students and faculty members. See Computing Facilities for more details.


  • The section, joined with the Institute for Social Research, provides Statistical consulting through the center of Statistical Consulting Service (SCS) located at the 6th floor of Ross Building.


  • What's New

    Professor Stephen Chamberlin is the program director for Statistics starting from July 1st, 2009.
