A study of the special functions of mathematical physics.
Bessel's equation, Bessel functions and their properties,
Legendre equation, Legendre functions and their properties; a
brief survey of the gamma function, Hermite functions, Laguerre
functions, Chebyshev polynomials, hypergeometric and confluent
hypergeometric functions; a detailed treatment of numerous
boundary value problems, heat flow, wave motion, etc. in
Cartesian and polar coordinates; Laplace and Fourier transforms
and their properties.

Prerequisites: AS/SC/MATH3271.03 or permission of the course
Exclusions: AS/MATH4200A.06,ACMS3030.06, AK/MATH4040.06.
