Java Programming

1.

Programming Challenge.  While studying for the ITEC 1011 midterm exam, you may have practiced the questions in the Java Primer Problem Sets for Chapter 2.  Although the solutions are not provided, obtaining the solutions is easy.  You simply write a Java program to print the expressions.  This is a simple and sure-fire way to determine the result of any expression.

Write a Java program called Chapter2-14.java to determine (i.e., print) the value of each expression in question 14 in the Problem Sets for Chapter 2 in the Java Primer.  Include comment lines at the top of the source file stating your name, student number, and the date.

Once the program is working properly, copy and paste the source code into the body of an e-mail message and send it to ta1011a@mathstat.yorku.ca or ta1011b@mathstat.yorku.ca.
(Make sure the source code includes the required comment lines.)
Use the following subject line:

            nov12: lastname studentnumber

Finally, make a backup copy of your source file and name it Ch2_14.bak.  This is just a precaution.  Hopefully you won’t need this.

2.

Homework.  If you haven’t already done so, read Chapters 5 and 6 in the Java Primer.  Compile and execute all the example programs in these chapters.

Also, please make sure you take a few minutes to read the technote on the errout utility program.
