You might recall that Cynthia Chataway, in Psychology, was a candidate
for our committee whose statement described her interest in techniques
of conflict management. I met her a few weeks ago and our discussion
turned to governance. She expressed an eager wish to meet with our
committee to present some ideas on the application of conflict
management to the issues with which we are dealing.

She has given me some photocopies of articles which I can share with
other members. The articles in question are:

Dennison, George M., Marshall E. Drummond, adn William P.
Hobgood. 1997. Collaborative Bargaining in Public
Universities. Negotiation Journal. January 1997. 61-81

Cutcher-Gershenfeld, Joel E. 1994. Bargaining over how to
bargain in labor-management negotiations. Negotiation Journal.
October 1994. 323-335.

As I read through the first article, I noticed a recurring theme that
struck a chord with me: the importance of informing negotiations with
data that is accessible and reliable.

Best regards,
Georges
