The Wednesday Feb 25 "Open Forum" was held during the Reading Week and
following the presentation by the Dean (and the largely unanswered
questions) on the Faculty of Arts budget and planning two weeks earlier
during the Council meeting on Feb 12. It is of course unfortunate that
only few attended. But the timing provides some explanation. The expected
information and utility may also provide some. It may also be interesting
to note that the Exec of the Arts Council (which I heard a month ago had
received a communication from the President about the process for
selecting a new Dean of Arts) had decided not to hold a Council meeting in
March, and the next meeting will be held instead in April when the
semester ends.
