I Have A Dream, Too
February is Black History Month in the United States. Midlink, an online
middle school magazine, now features student writing from around the world
on the theme: "I have a dream too." Read work by kids from Australia,
Finland, Japan, Poland, Romania and the United States. My rating: 4/5.

Britannica Guide to Black History
Read hundreds of informative articles illustrated with historical film
clips, audio recordings, and images. My rating: 5/5.

Walk To Canada: Tracing the Underground Railroad
Follow Anthony Cohen, a historian and author, on his walk along an
Underground Railroad route from Montgomery County, Maryland to Amherstburg,
Ontario, Canada. My rating: 3/5.

Raleigh Township Centennial Museum
The Raleigh Township Centennial Museum features pictures and a brief
description of the Elgin Settlement, a haven for fugitives who escaped the
American system of slavery to Canada in the pre-Civil War years. My rating:

Internet Nova Scotia: The African Presence
Learn the history of Nova Scotia's black population and read biographies of
prominent community members. This site was created by students at Cole
Harbour High School with the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia. My
rating: 3/5.

A colorful and fun place for little kids. There are activities and games to
play, stories to read, finger puppets and cards to make, and more. Note:
Uses Java. My rating: 5/5.

Sassy's Place for Kids
Grandma Sassy provides things for you to do every day of the week,
including bible verses, coloring pages, games, animal facts, stories about
her dog Spanky, and more. Each week new activities will be added. My
rating: 3/5.

WWW for Kidz
Features activities, links, facts, and book and movie reviews by kids on a
different theme each week, plus Web tips and links to other kids' Web
sites. My rating: 3/5.


Asylum's Lite Board
Play an online version of lite brite by selecting colored balls to make a

Jumprope Rhymes
A huge collection of jumprope, or skipping, rhymes listed in alphabetical
order. My rating: 3/5.


Adventures of Banph
The Adventures of Banph are the tales of an ant knight's efforts to defend
his kingdom against the enemy carpenter empire. This story is filled with
suspense and wonderful illustrations. A new chapter will be added each
month. Don't miss it: 5/5.


National Geographic Pirates
Join this exciting adventure, where you can sail in a pirate ship around
the Atlantic and Indian Oceans plundering gold.


The @rt room
This site features neat art project ideas, ways of thinking and viewing the
world around you like an artist, instructions for making paper, art work
created by kids, and links to Web sites about famous artists and art
education. For kids 8 and up. My rating: 4/5.


National Geographic
Join the Pirates! adventure, where you can sail in a ship around the
Atlantic and Indian Oceans plundering gold. Other upcoming adventures
include a visit to National Geographic's online zoo to wrestle a Siberian
tiger, and the possibility of being caught in the lava-flow of an erupting
volcano. The GeoBee Quiz will offer a daily geography quiz contest. My
rating: 5/5.


At Home in the Heartland Online
Tour an online llinois State Museum exhibit about family life in this state
from 1700 to the present. You will even meet real people and be able to
share in their decision making. Large text and colorful illustrations help
make this exhibit great for kids. My rating: 5/5.


Bonnie's Fun Things to Do on the Computer
A Mom has compiled a huge list of kids' pages for her 6-year old daughter,
Bonnie. You'll find games, stories, coloring pages, arts and crafts,
holiday fun, fun with words and pictures, and fun things to do when you are
not on the computer. Most of the links are 'internal' links that will take
you directly to a game, story, and so on, instead of to a homepage. This
allows young children to start activities easily rather than becoming
frustrated trying to find it on a site.

The K.I.D.S. Report: Kids Investigating and Discovering Sites
K.I.D.S. is a monthly online magazine produced by K-12 students for other
K-12 students. Each thematic issue features Web sites picked by kids that
meet their selection criteria. My rating: 4/5.
