Dear Stefano:
If I understand your question correctly, I think I may have a solution.
You want to plot fred1[,1:2] and fred2[,1:2] as the y components,
with 1:nrows(fred1) along the x axis. If this indeed is the question,
here is a possible solution.

yl1 <- min(fred1[,1:2],fred2[,1:2])
yl2 <- max(fred1[,1:2],fred2[,1:2])
#You will need this to set up proper limits for the y-axis.
plot(1:nrows(fred1),fred1[,1],type="l",main="Fred Graphs")
lines(1:nrows,fred1[,2],lty=2)
lines(1:nrows,fred2[,1],lty=3)
lines(1:nrows,fred2[,2],lty=4)
#The lty will give you different kinds of lines. If you
#want them all solid, just leave out the lty part.

Hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Erin Hodgess

Dear all,
I need your support for a last question:
given 2 matrices called "fred1" and "fred2", with equal dimensions, I have
to plot in the same graph the first two columns of each matrix, not one
column over the other, but both the columns over an array of integers of the
same length of the 2 columns ( i.e., if the length of the columns is 25, I
have to plot the values of the two columns over c(1:25)).
I'm wasting so much time for this detail, that any help would be
appreciated.

Many thanks in advance
Stefano Sofia
