[S] regression diagnostics

In Splus 3.4 (Unix based) after fitting a linear regression model with

results <- lm(y~x)

one can call plot(results) to get various pictures.

Two problems:

1) six pictures flash past your screen so fast
that you cannot do anything with them; if you arrange them as
panels in a 2x3 array of pictures they are too small to read;

2) there seems to be no on-line documentation of several of the plots.
In particular what are F values doing here? And are the Cooke's
distance really Cooke's distance? What is plotted lies between
0 and 1, whereas according to the literature values up to
sqrt(n-p) are possible.

Can anyone help?

Richard Gill.
