Hello,

Regarding the comments on the difference in start-up times between
S-PLUS version 3.3 and 4.0:

For those of you who run Windows 95, you might consider purchasing
Norton Utilities, which includes a program called SpeedStart. The help
file for SpeedStart states:

"Many computer applications in use today are large and complicated.
Consequently, you can spend a significant amount of time waiting for
your applications to start. Norton SpeedStart, which is enabled from
Norton Optimization Wizard, tracks how applications load into memory,
and optimizes the loading process. Subsequently, many of your
applications will load noticeably faster."

On my machine, which is a 180 MHz with 96 MB RAM, it takes about 5
seconds for version 3.3 to load and about 10 seconds for version 4.0 to
load (without the object browser).

Sincerely,

--Steve M.
