i generated a random exponential distribution by using rexp(111, 111/6),
sorted the distribution and denoted it as exp.text.
exp.test<-sort(rexp(111,111/6))
plot(exp.test)
plot(log(exp.test))
plot(exp.test) gave an "exponential" looking curve, but
plot(log(exp.test)) returned something a bit off from an expected straight
line.
so I generated exp.test 10,000 times, and took the average of them, got a
smooth looking exponential curve.
exp.sum<-rep(0, 111)
p<-10000
for ( k in 1 : p)
{
exp.test<-sort(rexp(111,111/6))
exp.sum<-exp.sum+exp.test
}
exp.ave<-exp.sum/p
plot(exp.ave)
plot(log(exp.ave))
plot(log(exp.ave)) gave a smooth curve instead of a straight line. Does
any one know why this happens?
thanks
