[S] Syntax error: unknown expression ("\r")?

I usually use Splus for windows (in Win 95), but have recently
obtained access to the program on Sun workstations. I just ftp-ed
a source (ascii text) file up to the sun, and then tried to run it
using the source() function, as shown below.

Can anyone tell me that that syntax error is referring to? What is
the "\r" ? (I get similar errors if I try to use BATCH.)
