Hello,

First off, let me say that I really appreciate the presence of this list.
I've gained a lot by lurking. But now I have a question.

I am working with repeated measures and trying to use lme.

I have a large dataset and I would like to use only subset in the analysis.
I have seen examples of subsetting with numeric data, but not with factors.
I need to subset on factors. In particular, I use the following in aov...

NH3.aov <- aov(conc ~ trt*chem.date*lysimeter*depth + Error(plot.no),
subset=(((trt=="1") | (trt=="2")) & chem.species=="NH3-N"),
conc.uni)

This allows me to test concentration response of one chemical species
(NH3-N) for two treatments.

Could someone please send me some examples of similar subsetting with lme.

Thank you very much,
Hobie
