[S] QUERY: analogon of perspp() for trellis' wireframe() ?

If one uses the standard S+ function persp() to produce a 3d-grid plot
from a model fit, one can project original data points into this grid
using points(perspp()).

Can someone explain how this can be done, if the 3d-grid plot is created
with trellis wireframe()?

I tried

, panel=function(x, y, subscripts, z, ...){
# plotting the wireframe works
panel.wireframe(x, y, subscripts, z, ...)
# superimposing the previous data as a cloud works
render.3d.trellis(cbind(x = x, y = y, z = z[subscripts]), type =
"cloud", col=3, ...)
# but superimposing other data fails
render.3d.trellis(cbind(x = x2, y = y2, z = z2),
type = "cloud", col=4, ...)

I'm using WinS+3.3 on Win311. Any suggestions?
