There is a simple solution to the question of a BATCH command replacement
that runs in the foreground. All you need is an executable shell script
with one line,

(echo "invisible(options(echo=TRUE))"; cat $1)| Splus >$2 2>&1

or if you want to keep the priority lower,

(echo "invisible(options(echo=TRUE))"; cat $1)| nohup Splus >$2 2>&1

The command

yourscript infile outfile

does what you want.

I thought this was in the FAQ.

scw

PS note if you don't what the command set to be in outfile, change
TRUE to FALSE
