I want to appologize to all of the subscribers to s-news that you received
duplicates of postings which were made within the past week. I believe that
the problem has now been solved and we hope that it will not reoccur in the
future.

As far as I can figure out, the mail system at a University got "mixed up"
last weekend and was not delivering the mail to the end users correctly.
When they attempted to fix that problem this morning, they introduced a new
problem which sent mail waiting in their system back to the list. This
appeared to happen to other mailing lists as well as s-news.

This type of problem is really hard to construct software to keep from
happening.

I want to thank the many folks who wrote me with information to help solve
the problem.

-phil
