Hello,

Gerald van Belle and I are compiling a collection of "Statistical Rules
of Thumb" (STRUTS) for a book. Examples include rules for quick sample
size calculations, when pairing data is not a good idea, etc. To get a
better idea of what I'm talking about, you can look at the web page

http://nrcse-svr.stat.washington.edu/nrcse/struts/struts.html

This web page includes an example chapter. We are interested in your
comments on the content and format of this chapter.

If you know a good rule of thumb, we would be grateful for your
suggestion. Please send suggestions to Gerald van Belle at
vanbelle@u.washington.edu. We will acknowledge all contributors.

We would also appreciate it if you would please pass this message on to
all colleagues you think may be interested.

Thank you so much for your time.

Sincerely,

--Steve M.
