[S] how to get blank polygons

Can anyone tell me how to plot a filled-in polygon in the background colour, under Splus 4.0 for Windows? "polygon( ..., col=1)" works fine, but "polygon( ..., col=0)" doesn't fill in the polygon.

For my application, "polygon( ..., col=0, density=5000)" doesn't work, because it's too slow (just like most things with graphsheets). And it's too ugly, anyway.

This used to work fine in Splus 3.3.

I'd settle for filled-in rectangles, if anyone knows how to do that but not polygons.

Thanks for any tips
