Greeting,

I am Lawrence Romero, Investigator to the Center of Mathematical Statistic (CESMA) of the Simon Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela, I have read with great interest the works "Maps in S" and "Constructing a Geographical Database" by Becker and Wilks, since we intend in the mark of a study that we are developing, to create in Splus the maps for states and municipalities of our country.

However, previously (in last times) based on other tools, let us believe this maps and we possess the information in format DXF, in view of that which, we think of the alternative of developing a convertor among this format and the one proposed by Becker and Wilks; but before advancing in this address we want to know (in the measure that some of you possesses such an information and of their possibilities) if this convertor has already been implemented and if it is of public domain.

The idea is to automate the more than one can the process (to extract the data from DXF and to create a database (Becker-Wilks) in Splus.

Thanking any suggestion that you can offer us, say goodbye until next time.

Thank you!!

Lawrence
