ASSIGNMENTS AND EVALUATION
Performance in MLP for all participants will be assessed on a
recommended/not recommended basis and will be based on an
examination of a teaching dossier documenting your professional
growth in mathematics education (teacher candidates, however,
should note that they will receive grades for MATH 1589/90). The
final date for submission of dossiers is May 2, 1996.
The Ministry of Education and Training requires that teachers
complete 125 hours of instruction before they can be recommended
for an AQ. Our model comprises mathematics (30h), mathematics
education (30h), teacher research (45h) and 20 hours devoted to
other activities such as orientation, mentoring and the final
colloquium. For this reason, attendance at all sessions is
required for both teachers and teacher candidates and irregular
attendance may lead to your being "not recommended" for completion
of the programme.
Participants decide what material they will include in their
dossiers in addition to the formal requirements listed below.
Teachers
-
Report of a mathematics investigation (due Nov 23, 1995).
Feedback will be provided and investigation reports may be revised
before being included in the dossier.
- Report of curriculum investigation (due March 14, 1996). This
is a group assignment and once again reports may be revised after
feedback before being included in the dossier.
- Final report of action research project (due April 11, 1996).
Feedback will be given prior to the oral report in the May 2
Colloquium.
Teacher Candidates
- Evidence of a passing grade in Math 1580/1590.
- Final report of mathematics inquiry project (due April 11,
1996). Feedback will be given prior to the oral report in the May
2 Colloquium.
