TEXTBOOK: CALCULUS OF ONE AND SEVERAL VARIABLES, EIGHTH EDITION

by SALAS/HILLE/ETGEN

WILEY & SONS, 1999

ISBN 0-471-31659-8

We will cover most of Chapters 7, 8, 10 and 11.

Optional sections, marked with asterisks in the table of contents, and the

subsections labeled "Project" will NOT be covered.

There will be four homework assignments (one on each chapter) worth 5% each

(due at 6pm on June 30, July 12, July 21 and July 28), a two-hour mid-term

exam worth 40% on July 12 from 7 to 9 pm, and a two-hour final exam worth

40% on August 4 from 7 to 9 pm.

During the first hour (6 to 7 pm) of each class period (6 to 9 pm), the

students will be divided into four groups that meet in separate classrooms

with the graduate student assistants; this time is devoted to problem solving

and to the submission and discussion of the homework assignments.

know in advance which ones. So you should (ideally) submit them all.
