1. During the CUPE strike all classes, quizzes and exams were held as scheduled. A student

who did not write a quiz or exam during the strike will have the corresponding portion

of his/her final grade determined by his/her mark on the final exam.

2. If you have not written the final exam, you should be studying the text (course kit) on your

own to learn the material on the syllabus and do the relevant homework problems. The

appropriate sections and homework exercise were distributed on the first day of class. Copies

appear on this webpage under Tentative Schedule and Homework.

3. There will be a makeup final exam scheduled by the Office of the Registrar after the remedial

session. All students who did not write the final exam in December must write this makeup

final exam to complete the course. Any student who wrote the final exam in December will

not be allowed to write the makeup final exam. See Final Exam for detailed information on the

makeup final exam at


4. The remediation period is from Friday, Jan. 12 to Monday, Feb. 12. During this period

there will be no lectures. I will hold an office hour each week in our regular classroom on

Wednesday at 12:30 p. m. to answer questions. I will also have office hours, in my office,

on Mondays and Fridays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. or by appointment.

5. If there is a demand for review, I will schedule a review lecture sometime,

say, on some Wednesday.

6. The Math Lab will be open Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., starting on

Monday, Jan. 15.

7. On October 6, a new course policy was established that forbids the use of calculators on

the final exam.


8. The course evaluation was given on November 24th. A student who did not complete

it at that time may obtain a course evaluation form from me.

9. The last day to drop this course is March 2.

10. The makeup final exam will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2001, 8:30 A.M. to

11:30 A.M. at TM SFH WEST.

11. On Wednesday, January 31, I will give a review lecture in the classroom.
