Toronto Graduate Student Set Theory Seminar
The grad student seminar used to meet Wednesdays 2:30(sharp)-4 in Bahen 3116. At the moment
it meets on Mondays, 5:00-6:30pm but this is subject to change.
Bahen
is the building in back of Fields. The intent of the seminar is mainly to go
through material in books and papers that either a) all set theory grad
students should know, but is not found in regularly offered courses, or b)
particular students should know for their research and is interesting to
other students. The pace is intended to be slower than in the Friday seminar and
questions are expected. One graduate course in set theory is assumed:
students
should have a minimal acquaintance with forcing and elementary submodels. If
your background is weak, I recommend Kunen's book or Baumgartner's
article, "Iterated forcing" for the former, and Chapter 24 of Just-Weese, v.
II for the latter. The intention is to have references provided by the
speaker, and notes provided either by the speaker or by a designated
notetaker.
